I opened the door with my keys to enter the house as I stepped in. I quietly tiptoed upstairs to my bedroom not wanting to get caught by papa.
I managed to enter my room without getting caught. I quietly shut the door and switched the lights on, then I put my bag down as I sigh softly in relief.
But as soon as I looked up, I saw my little sister Diya just sitting on my bed, staring at me. Which caused me to jump back startled.
Before I could even scream she quickly got up and covered my mouth with her hand.
“Be quiet, Didi (sister) before you wake up papa” She says in a hush tone so only I can hear her.
I quickly nodded as my eyes were still widened, still shocked that she was here.
She puts her hand down and smiles at me and hugged me leaving me speechless as Diya and I were never close. She always keeps her distance from me because we were opposites since childhood.
“Uh.. Diya? Is something wrong?” I asked, still speechless.
“No, I just wanted to thank you for your advice the other day. It saved me,” She replied.
“Are you talking about two days ago when you were confused and stressed because you wanted to do well in your exam but there was also this event you wanted to go to very badly on the same day” I said.
“Yeah you were right, Didi. I managed to do well in my exam and managed to go to the event after thanks to your plan and the best part is that papa doesn’t know about me attending the event. So thank you, you're the best sister ever” She replied back with a bright smile.
Her smile softens my face, making me break into a smile too.
“Of course, I am always here for you lil sis, Besides it wasn’t a big deal you know your exam was in the morning and the event was in the afternoon you just had to find a suitable transport with a good price to go there and come back home” I said.
“Still, thank you and besides you're a genius. I could have never thought of that idea” She says.
“I should go to bed now. I will see you tomorrow Didi” She says as she was about to leave”
“Wait, before you go can you not tell papa or anyone in fact that I came back late today” I blurted out before she leave.
She turns around and nods with a soft smile.
“Of course, Didi. I got your back just like you got mine” She replies and leaves quietly closing the door waving to me goodnight.
I waved goodnight back and quickly changed into my silk yellow pajamas as I was tired after the long day of helping Samir out.
Afterwards, I sat down at my dressing table and took the band off my hair, putting it down to brush my hair and tie it back into a braid.
Once I was done with my hair, I removed my makeup off and washed my face in the bathroom doing my skincare routine and moisturized myself from top to bottom to keep my skin hydrated and soft.
When I was ready for bed I walked to my bed and sat down on it laying down covering myself with the duvet to sleep.
Before I closed my eyes my attention was on my bag as my eyes caught the sight of it as if I forgot to do something important today.
I picked it up and opened it looking inside revealing Samir’s coat.
“Oh god! I am really an idiot. I forgot to return it today. You know what, Kriti? Just return it tomorrow. Yeah, I will do that. I hope I won’t forget again” I thought to myself as a sigh escaped my lips.
I closed the bag and put it down laying back down on the bed closing my eyes to drift to sleep after a long day.
